Home Remedies for Diaper Rash - What to Do for Infant Skin Rashes
Infants have a very sensitive and delicate skin, and the chances of them getting a diaper rash are very high. Just when you may think that leaving a wet diaper on the baby for a few hours will not cause much harm, the rash might start to develop. Of course, the rate of the development of the rash, and its occurrence is different in each baby. But overall, wet diapers not changed for a long time can cause severe rashes on the baby's buttocks as well as legs.
It is obviously not safe to trust different medicines and creams available in the market to cure rashes on the baby's skin. They might have a harmful effect which could create further damage. Thus, it is always good to go in for some safe and tested home remedies instead, which cause no harm, and are quite effective too. With these home remedies, you can be guaranteed that your infant's skin will not be damaged in anyway.
One of the simplest things that you can begin with is to apply coconut oil regularly on the rash. It will help to soothe the itching and the irritation and will give some comfort to your baby. When infants are affected with diaper rash, they have a tendency to cry a lot as a means of expressing their pain. But with coconut oil, the rash should be able to get cured faster, and the baby will be fine.
Next, make sure that you are not using low quality diapers of any kind of harsh clothing on the baby while he/she is affected with the rash. That can cause further irritation and will make the problem more complicated.
Aloe Vera gel can be applied on the rash to help it cure faster. It will also reduce the inflammation and the itching and will make the baby feel relaxed. Aloe Vera gel is very cool in nature, and its properties are good for treating many different kinds of skin allergies. Besides, it is completely safe and has no harmful effects on the baby.
To relax the baby's skin, it is a good idea to make your baby stand in front of the fan for a little while, so that the air can reduce the burning sensation. This is not exactly a cure for the rash, but is definitely a good way to cool down the rash and comfort the baby.
There are many different ointments available in the market for rashes of all kinds, and special ones that are meant only for diaper rashes. However, it is always good to first have a check with your doctor before you use that ointment on your baby's skin. In severe cases, the doctor may also advise some minor diet tips to ensure that the baby does not feel irritated with the rash. Some people also apply a paste made out of corn starch on the rash to cure it, and to reduce the itching and discomfort.

How Long Should My Baby Sleep?
Babies have shorter sleep cycles than you do. Most adult sleep cycles last around 90 minutes going from light sleep to deep sleep, and then back to light sleep. An infants' sleep cycle is shorter than an adults, lasting around 50 to 60 minutes, so they experience a vulnerable period for night time waking around every hour or even less.
In their first few months babies enter sleep through an initial stage of light sleep which usually lasts for around twenty minutes or more, then they will gradually enter deep sleep. After about an hour, your baby will re enter the phase of light sleep. They may wriggle around a bit, their eyelids may flutter, and you could notice that their breathing pattern changes. This is the time many babies will wake up.
What you need to keep in mind is that when babies are very young they need you to tend to them in the night. They need you to feed them, change them (I know I wouldn't like to sleep in cold wet underwear!)tuck them back in, and maybe they just need a bit of comforting and reassurance from mum or dad.
I think sometimes new parents can get a little overwhelmed with all the advice on what their baby should be doing. And often you feel like you are in some competition of "who's the better parent." I can tell you now that some parents often exaggerate how long their baby sleeps. And if they tell you something like... their baby has been sleeping through the night since they were 6 weeks old, you know they are either very lucky, or they are lying!
In the first three months, babies seldom sleep for more than four hours without needing to be fed. Little babies have little tummies and as a result need to be fed often. Yet, they usually sleep a total of 14-18 hours a day.
From three to six months, most babies are awake for longer and have more active periods during the day and some may sleep for around five hours at a time during the night. You can expect your baby to wake one or two times during the night. Around three to six months of age you should also see the period of deep sleep lengthen. The lighter sleep and night time waking will start to decrease and babies are able to enter deep sleep more quickly. This is called sleep maturity.
Remember that your baby's sleep habits are more to do with your baby's temperament rather than your parenting skills.

When Is The Right Time To Potty Train?
There isn't a simple answer for this question. The truth is each child decides on his or her own when it is time to start peeing in the potty. There is however a general age range and somewhere during that time your child will be ready for potty training. We'll talk about what the age range is and how you will be able to tell that your child is ready.
Most children will potty train when they are between 2 and 4. Girls tend to be ready a little sooner than boys. If there are older siblings in the house, your younger child will also get interested in using the potty sooner than a single child. I have seen children as young as 18 months, who could barely walk wanting to use the potty like their older sibling. These children were ready for potty training and were out of diapers in no time.
Your child will give you quite a few signals to let you know he or she is ready to give the potty a try. Pay attention to your child's behavior and you will know if it is time to start the training.
A child that is ready for the potty will start showing interest in what mom, dad and older siblings are doing in the bathroom. Take some of the mystery out of the potty for your toddler, by allowing him to accompany you to the bathroom, or leave the door cracked. Curiosity will get the better of him and sooner or later he will take a peak. When he does, explain what you are doing in a simple, straightforward way.
Does your child start pulling on his clothing or ask to have a diaper change? Is he getting increasingly more uncomfortable running around in a wet or soiled diaper? This is another sure tell sign that it is time to start potty training.
If you think your child may be ready, give potty training a try. If you read your child's signals wrong, he will let you know and you can just give it a little more time before trying again.

Professional Photographer Offers Tips For Shooting Newborns
Newborns of course do not follow directions well. They don't wake up when you want them to and sleep when you want them. They are fragile and cry a lot. These traits can make shooting newborns a challenge. The following are some tips for overcoming these challenges and getting some great newborn portraits.
Make sure have all the baby specific equipment on hand. You need to have on hand warm baby wipes, rocking chair, cloth diapers, a vibrator, and warm hands. You need these items for the following:
1. Warm baby wipes will help keep the baby asleep during the shoot. The number one challenge to shooting newborn portraits is keeping them asleep. If they need to be cleaned up after having an "accident", you don't want to have to wipe them with cold wet wipes because it could foreclose any possibility that they will go back to sleep.
2. A rocking chair is needed so Mom can nurse the baby before the photo shoot begins. If the baby is well fed before the shoot it is more likely he will sleep for a long period of time. Also, it is less likely that the photo shoot will be interrupted by a hungry baby's need to nurse.
3. Cloth diapers are essential. While you are working on getting the baby to sleep you want them in the diaper. You don't want any unprotected accidents in your studio. However, most parents will bring their children in plastic diapers. Plastic diapers tend to leave red marks on the baby. When you take the diaper off to get a nude shot you will be shooting those red marks. It is possible to photo shoot these spots out but it is better to avoid having to do the extra work in the first place.
4. A vibrator will help a baby sleep for a longer period of time. There are little chairs on the market for babies which vibrate. A photographer can purchase one of those chairs and take out the vibrator. This vibrator can go under blankets in any set the photographer wishes to use to aid the baby in sleeping.
5. Warm hands will help the baby feel warm and secure. Make sure you hands are warm. You don't want to do anything which might wake the baby up when you want it to sleep or cry when you need it to be cute. Cold hands will both wake the baby and make it cry.
Shooting newborn portraits can be a challenge. Follow these suggestions and you will find your sessions going more smoothly.
