Unnoticed chapter 9

JORDANS POV. Hehe...o_O "Were going to jump" Joe said with fear in his eyes. "Joe II cant. I cant do this" I said, looking down to the ground. "Why? We'll land on the soft pillows and mattress down there" Joe said, even though he was unsure. You could hear the shakeyness in his voice. "I'm afraid of heights" i said. (AN I really am. Im afraid to even go up a ladder. DONT JUDGE ME. o_O) I looked at his hand. I grabbed it and interwined our fingers. Then I leaned into him and hugged him. I could feel the tears pouring down my face. He just stood there, hugging back with his eyes closed. He kissed me. It started raining. It was the most passionate kiss I've ever had. I could feel him pouring his love through my lips. (AN I know, cheezy right?? =D) "I love you" he sounded so confident. "I love you so much" he said. "I hope you know that. Ive never loved a girl as much as I've loved you. When I first met you, when we were really young..in diapers. Haha. I had a thought in the back of my head that we would eventually be together. But then I met Camilla...and she was so flirty and nice. I think I saw her as more of a really good friend. I didnt know what love was. I thought that was love. With Camilla. But then when we kissed, I knew instanttly that we were meant to be." he said, looking at me straight in the eyes. I was crying. "Joe, I love you so much! When I was younger, around 5 or 6 maybe. When you dated that Lindsay person, I was so jealous. I should tell you this now. I ...

Naming Your Baby: A Fitting Name Can Enhance the Life of a Person

Should baby names be regulated by a ruling body? The State Government of Chihuahua in Mexico would say, "You bet!" This is because it has done exactly that.

According to Chihuahua's new regulations, all foreign names must be followed by a Spanish middle name, like José or Maria or Rosa. The spelling of the names has to fit to the norm, too. No one can name a baby by changing a letter; Cristina cannot be Christine or Christina, Elizabeth can only be written with a z, and Teresa cannot be Theresa.

Then, some names are listed as inappropriate or rather more than inappropriate, because using them is a crime against the state. Those names are totally disqualified, or to be exact, banned; among them are Brian, Karen, Shiloh, Apple, Kevin, Azul (blue), Phinneaus, Lluvia(rain), Blanket, Rumer, Tallulah.

These rules are intended to keep the children from being ridiculed later in life because of their names.

In Germany, too, it used to be, people had to register their kids' names at the Standesamt, not any name they wanted but a name used in countries familiar to the German nation.

Now, if the State of California started regulating baby names, this would be a really big problem for trend-setting celebrities in Hollywood who rummage around for unique-sounding names for their children. If that would happen, how could those children with names like Little Pixie, Speck Wildhorse, Tu Morrow, La Princia, Fifi-Trixibelle, Shalamar, Peaches Honeyblossom, Pilot Inspektor, and Buffalo Cody exist?

If I am not mistaken, naming children with such unique names started during the sixties with the flower children. At the time, we were taken aback when Sonny and Cher Bono named their daughter, but then in those days, some people adopted for themselves far-out commune names. I remember a Maggie asking her mother to call her Serenity and a Liz wanting to be Peace Lily.

It is possible that unusual names can cause discomfort for a child in the future, but a name is a name, and while some like to create extinct and unparalleled names especially for their children, parents have the right to name their children whatever they want. At the start of this naming game, parents are the ones wet with perspiration; later, it may be the children, however, who may be pained with their unusual names.

Under the alphabet of names, the choices from A to Z are incredibly versatile. The most important principle for the parents to remember is: the name of a child will make the child more comfortable in life, if it flatters him. Also, the name has to fit in well with the last name. A six year-old Patty Heine could be ridiculed as "Pat the heinie" and the same would hold true for Peggy Hogg as "Piggy Hog."

One rule of thumb is: if the last name is unusually long, the first name shouldn't be too long as in Jedediah Hollister-Dochendoner. Names with alliteration, too, can create a problem by sounding like tongue twisters as in Dorothy Daugherty, Matthew Mathison, Peter Piper, etc.

From what I have observed, unless a parent feels she has to continue a family tradition, she should try not to name her child with archaic and rarely used names. In the TV sit-coms, most people with less used or archaic names are projected as wacky or unnerving characters, like Aunt Tabitha, Uncle Nehemiah, etc.

As the government of Chihuahua has implemented, names fitting the local preferences may be all right if we know for certain that the child will stay in the same restricted environment all his life. Yet, the world is diverse and it is questionable that a child will live out his life in the same region he is born in. The earth is a globe, and with each day, its inhabitants are becoming more and more globally connected.

When parents name their babies, they should not forget that a name is a signal and their child can grow up to be more self-confident with a positive signal, which can be accepted by most people. Our children will have an easier life if they own a flattering name that can be pronounced easily and accepted by many.

The Hives - List of Demands (Demo)

Original: Saul Williams I want my money back. I'm down here drowning in your fat. You got me on my knees praying for everything you lack. I ain't afraid of you. I'm just a victim of your fears. You cower in your tower praying that I'll disappear, I got another plan, one that requires me to stand. On the stage or in the street, don't need no microphone or beat. And when you hear this song, if you ain't dead then sing along. Bang and strum to these here drums til you get where you belong. I got a list of demands written on the palm of my hands. I ball my fist and you're gonna know where I stand. We're living hand to mouth! You wanna be somebody? See somebody? Try and free somebody? I gotta list of demands written on the palm of my hands. I ball my fist and you're gonna know where I stand. We're living hand to mouth! Hand to mouth! I wrote a song for you today while I was sitting in my room. I jumped up on my bed today and played it on a broom. I didn't think that it would be a song that you would hear, but when I played it in my head, I made you reappear. I wrote a video for it and I acted out each part. Then I took your picture out and taped it to my heart. I've taped you to my heart dear girl, I've taped you to my heart and if you pull away from me you'll tear my life apart.. I got a list of demands written on the palm of my hands. I ball my fist and you're gonna know where I stand. We're living hand to mouth! You wanna be somebody? See somebody? Try and free somebody? I ...

Diaper Rash - 8 Ways to Get Rid of it ( For Good!)

diaper rash - it is no fun for baby and no fun for you! Luckily it's not a major medical problem but more of a common discomfort. Now you don't need to be a pediatrician to recognize diaper rash on your baby - if she has a red, sore, hot looking little bottom when you remove her diaper, you can be pretty sure she's got diaper rash.

The good news is that it's relatively easy to get rid of this rash, and if you're careful in the future, you may be able to rid your baby of it forever by following some simple steps. Here are some tried and true methods I've used with my own children to get rid of a diaper rash once it shows up , as well as to prevent them from coming back.

Leave your baby naked - Air drying if at all possible as much as possible is a good thing ! Take off that diaper and let their skin breathe. Diapers today, especially the disposable kind are made to keep moisture in , and while they are supposed to keep it away from the skin, that's not possible as the diaper environment creates almost a condensation. Babies love to be naked too, so if you can brave the possible accidents, let their bottoms air dry.

Change your baby's diaper often Having stool or urine in contact with an already sore bottom will make the rash and your baby worse. Try to make sure your baby's bottom stays as clean and dry as possible at all times. Wet areas on skin can become breeding grounds for infection.

Look at your commercial baby wipes Many brands of store bought baby wipes, while convenient, can contain chemicals and alcohol that can irritate and dry out your baby's skin. Infants' are especially susceptible to outside contaminants so you may want to try different brands until you find one that works - avoid the perfumed kind, or just stick with plain soap and water on a clean cloth.

Find an ointment that works and use it regularly even if your baby doesn't have a rash at the moment , it will prevent it. You may need to try a few to find one you are happy with. The ones with zinc oxide seem to work best. ( Desitin, Zincofax )Some are very thick and hard to spread on and you may find your wiggly baby not impressed. Others go on smoothly, but don't stay put. Ask other moms for their recommendations !

Keep an eye on what your baby is eating Sometimes as you introduce new foods your baby can develop more of an acidic poop ( strawberries did that for mine) so if you find there are some foods that result in a rash, try to avoid them. Diarrhea almost always will result in the start of a diaper rash so keep your eye out.

Check out your baby shampoo, soap, bubble bath etc. Usually the cheaper the brand, the more chemical additives and preservatives, one commonly used is Quaternium 15 and can cause skin flare ups in those with sensitive skin. Try to only use natural products on your baby's skin or plain water if you can.

Check your diaper brand If you find you are changing diapers often , letting baby air dry and a rash is still appearing, it may be the diapers you are using. Consider switching brands, stay away from perfumed ones and possibly switch to cloth diapers.

Be aware of yeast infections Occasionally, what appears to be a diaper rash is really a yeast infection called Candida Albicans. It looks more like a red rash with little white dots and tends to have a defined outline. Sometimes your baby will get this if they have been prescribed anti-biotics , and sometimes you're not sure why! If the rash is not going away with the regular diaper cream and the above mentioned methods, see your pediatrician for an over the counter anti-yeast medication, and use it at every diaper change. It will generally clear up the rash in a few days.

If all else fails, don't hesitate to give your doctor a call. A diaper rash can cause misery to both you and your baby and can worsen if left untreated. Monitor your baby for two to three days and if there is no sign of improvement, head for your pediatrician.

Most Common Skin Ailments Can Be Effectively Treated By Dermatologists and Other Medical Doctors

Common skin ailments can affect people of any age and vary from simply irritating to potentially dangerous. Whatever problem may be affecting your skin, the importance of treating it quickly, thoroughly and carefully can not be stressed enough. The skin is the largest and, in many ways, the most delicate of human organs. We only get one skin and it is up to us to take good care of it if we expect it to take care of us.

Though skin problems can vary from patient to patient and from one age group to another, there are some which bridge all the gaps. These include atopic dermatitis, or eczema; contact dermatitis, caused by various allergens; and dry skin, which is usually tied to a specific season of the year. From the time we're babies, skin diseases can crop up at any time. For babies, the most common ailment is diaper rash, the result of contact with wet diapers. As we get older and begin to come in contact with a large variety of substances, we become more prone to developing contact dermatitis. Everything from plants to fabrics to foods can cause a skin based allergic reaction.

As we get older, the list of common skin ailments grows to include warts, hives, prickly heat and folliculitis. By far the most common skin problem associated with aging is dry skin. As we age, the skin stretches and becomes thinner, which in turn makes it harder to moisturize thoroughly. This can lead to bouts of extremely irritating dry skin, usually in direct reaction to temperatures extremes. Thus some people will find themselves suffering in winter's chill, while others are plagued by summer heat.

Most skin problems are irritating and frustrating, but rarely serious, though they can often be a cause of embarrassment. Particularly difficult to deal with are ailments such as vitiligo which cause changes in the pigmentation of the skin. This can be a source of heartbreak for the sufferer, but fortunately with advances in medical science new treatments and even cures are being developed every day. Skin diseases such as melasma can sometimes be a warning sign for other illness so no matter how trivial they may seem, it is always a good idea to pay attention and seek treatment as soon as possible.

Treatment for most common skin ailments can include everything from simple self help measures to topical and oral medications. Antihistamines can help to alleviate itching and reduce the effects of allergens, while corticosteroids work to decrease swelling. For conditions which affect pigmentation, laser treatment, tattooing and even skin grafting can be used to even out skin tone. In ailments which involve growths, incising to drain pus or surgical removal itself may be warranted.

Self help treatments for skin problems can range from cool baths to the application of warm moist compresses, depending on the underlying cause of the problem. Natural remedies such as oatmeal baths and aloe vera gels can offer much needed relief, and reducing stress can also be beneficial. No matter which form of treatment you choose, it is extremely important to act quickly to prevent your condition from developing into something more serious.

By far the most important step you can take in treating and preventing common skin ailments is maintaining proper hygiene and exercising common sense. Keeping the skin clean and properly moisturized at all times can help to avoid most problems. Avoiding wearing tight clothing, especially when participating in strenuous activity which will produce sweat, and always using caution in terms of sun exposure can go a long way toward maintaining the health of your skin.

The health of our skin can affect the overall health of our bodies, so it is nothing to be taken lightly. Maintaining your skin properly and seeking medical attention at the first sign of any skin related issues are the keys to living a long, healthy life. The better we treat our skin, the better it will be able to protect us.

Review of Disposable Diapers

Many parents are in a dilemma when they are faced with a decision on which type of diapers their precious baby should use. Let us have a look at the Pros and Cons of disposable diapers in this review.

The Pros:

  • The disposable diapering system is uncomplicated and equipment is minimal - diapers and wipes - that's it, finished. No mucking about with liners, diaper covers, diaper pails and soaking detergents. Simple. Remove diaper from packet, put it on, when it's wet or soiled, take it off, dispose of it and it's all over. They are quick and easy to put on, even if baby is wriggling and kicking in protest (as most babies will at some stage). Most of them have refastenable tapes so you really can't go far wrong. No having to haul around great diaper bags of equipment when you're out and about. They are wonderful for naps, especially once baby is sleeping through the night. No waking in the middle of the night wet and cold and no wet beds to change in the morning.

  • Today's disposable diapers are a far cry from their poor cousins of earlier generations. Soft, breathable outer coverings mean no more crunchy plastic bottoms to cuddle, and no more heat traps causing nasty prickly heat rash. Each brand has it's own unique shape and cut. Some offer inner leak guards, providing more protection from leakage. Others may have longer crotch areas, or softer waistbands. You may need to try out several brands until you find one that is comfortable for your baby and suits your needs.

  • Disposable diapers absorb wetness and draw it away from the skin. Complete with an inner lining that serves as a barrier between absorbed waste and your baby's skin, they keep baby's bottom dry, hence prevent diaper rash. They can hold up to seven pounds of fluid and disguise unpleasant aromas with a gentle fragrance. Previously, this makes it difficult to tell when baby's diaper requires changing and it is easy to leave baby in a wet or soiled disposable diaper for too long. Nowadays, most diapers have wetness indicators so parents will know when it's time to change baby. They should be changed regularly, despite their capacity.

The Cons:

  • Disposable diapers are usually packaged so you need more than one pack to last the week and running out can see a parent doing a frantic dash to the store before closing time.

  • Disposable diapers cost an average of about 20 cents each, totaling a cost of approximately $1508 per child.

  • Some babies may react to the chemicals or perfumes used in disposable diapers, resulting in diaper rash or skin irritation.

  • Disposable diapers are not biodegradable, and hence not environmentally friendly - our usage is going to harm mother earth.

What Are Baby Wet Wipes

Baby wet wipes are disposable cloths for the cleaning of infants' skin. These wipes are similar to dryer sheets in that they are not weaved. They are saturated with a mixture of components that are easy on the skin.

The disposable non-woven cloths were made in the later part of the 1970s and baby wipes were selling very soon after that. With these wipes being so expensive, only the larger companies, like Kimberly-Clark and Proctor & Gamble could afford to produce them and controlled this market.

As technology grew and became more affordable, the smaller brands came out. By 1990, there were many supermarkets that had their own brand of wipes. The wipes from these companies had lower prices are drew more consumers in to buy them.

Baby wet wipes are sold in the baby/toddler area of most supermarkets. They usually sell between three and five dollars for a 64-count plastic tub. These sales are important because they compensate for the small profit margins of diaper sales. The wipes are sold next to diapers hoping that buyers will purchase them with their other infant products. Baby wet wipes are sold in a variety of sizes, styles and fragrances. Sales in supermarkets increased 5% to $263.9 million in 2000 from $251.4 in 1996.

Baby wet wipes are made to be tough for heavy cleaning yet also disposable. The fabric of the wipes is based on durability, cost and absorbency. It is deeply moistened with cleansing solution that is mild and effective. They are then kept in special containers to keep them moist.

Marketers are always coming up with new styles and sizes to attract users. One label uses Muppet Babies while others have characters on the actual wipe. One new trend with the wipes is being more natural. A variety of natural ingredients like Aloe Vera and oatmeal tend to increase the appeal of the products.

Water is the main ingredient in baby wipes and serves to dilute the other ingredients. They also contain mild detergents combined with moisturizers, fragrance and preservatives. These chemicals do no harm to the skin and decrease potential irritation. Mildness is necessary given that the wipes are in direct contact around very sensitive areas.

Baby wet wipes contain other ingredients that include preservatives to make sure the anything in the wipe does aid in the growth of microorganisms. Fragrance is added to some wipes to increase the appeal and help odors of the body, but fragrance-free products are also available.

There are different stages during the manufacturing process of the wipes that the quality is checked. The packaging must not have any faults that could possible cause leakage or not close correctly. The non-woven material must not be differently formed and also meet the requirements for tear-strength. The cleaning mixture has to be tested thoroughly. Chemists check to make sure the product is good for commercial shelves and not undergo chemical reactions.

Before any ingredients are added, they have to meet all specifications. They are tested during manufacturing and again when completed for basic specifications as pH and resistance to fluid.

How to Ensure That Newborn Babies Remain Happy

Newborn babies are that something special that all married couples wait for eagerly. The fun and frolic that these little toddlers provide to the entire family cannot be described in words. As days pass by, they start crawling and within a few weeks also attempt their first steps. This is followed by their eagerness to utter a few words. All this and much more is what a newborn baby provides the entire family with. However there are certain things that need to be observed by the parents to ensure that the toddler remains happy and is safe from illness.

If you have observed carefully, you might have noticed that these kids pick up and eat anything they can grasp with their tiny fingers as soon as they are a few weeks old. This activity increases when the newborn baby starts crawling and is able to locate and move towards different things lying on the floor. You should ensure that there are no foreign objects left on the floor that they can eat since they might block their windpipe and cause serious problems.

There is yet another thing you should be wary of when the baby starts crawling. Wipe the floor clean using a disinfectant that is strong enough to remove germs from the floor yet does not leave any residue that might be harmful for the baby's skin. During their first few weeks, babies cannot inform others that they are going to urinate. This action is natural for them.

They convey it to others by crying. If your baby is crying for no apparent reason, you should first check out their diaper and check whether it is wet or not. If yes, replace the same with a dry one after cleaning her bottom and private parts with a soft towel and applying some talcum powder. When newborn babies are a few week old, we generally give them lots of gifts.

However, most of us, in our eagerness, never bother to check out whether these gifts are suitable for the young ones. Before purchasing those toys, you should ensure that they do not have any sharp edges. Babies, out of habit, will try to insert these playthings into their mouth. A sharp edged object might cut their delicate skin. Also make sure that the toy is painted using colors that are safe for the toddler.

Children's Preschool Games - Household Chores With Your Toddler

To a toddler most everyday chores can be made into a game, and mopping, dusting, washing, and brushing are just a few. You can either buy 'toy' household cleaning items, or what seems to be much more fun, is helping Mom by using hers. Kids love to copy and help, all the more when they are praised for their help.

I have a dustpan and brush that just my toddler uses, this way I know it is clean, and he just loves brushing up crumbs when he's eaten a biscuit, or thrown cereal all over the floor. This 'game' also helps him understand that you have to clean up if you've made a mess. Of course your little helper will probably be more of a hindrance than a help, but it is fun to a toddler and does help them learn about chores around the house that have to be done,

Other chores that work well with kids 'helping':

Sweeping up leaves outside. The 'big brush' seems too big for my 'helper' but he manages quite well, and insists on brushing up, even when there is nothing to sweep.

Filling and emptying the washing machine. Folding and putting away clothes follows on from this, and can include pairing up socks, sorting clothes into a pile for each member of the family.

Washing up. My son loves washing up his dishes after meals. OK, so I let him do this more in the summer - outside. Plastic crockery is a must as it means no breakages!

Window cleaning. A soft cloth with no cleaner on is perfect for your little one to help keep the windows clean. With lots of praise, they will be really pleased that they have been such a big help. Do make sure the window is secure, firmly locked shut, and at ground level - shut doors are great.

Washing the car. A favourite with my son. He just loves the bubbles, the water, 'being grown up' an d getting very very wet!

Never leave your child unattended while they are 'helping' you with chores.

When I was pregnant, I looked to the internet for information, but what I got was information overload. Never having been pregnant before it was all so overwhelming, I had so many questions, the internet seemed a good place to start. Once my baby was born I didn't have the time to be searching for answers, though I still had so many questions. As he is growing, I really want to pass on all I've learned to other parents who have questions, want answers, just want a laugh or to know there are other mums out there tearing their hair out too. I'm no expert, I'm a mum - hang on maybe that does make me an expert! And boy do you learn a lot after baby is born!

Breastfeeding and Failure to Thrive - When Your Baby is Not Gaining Weight

When a baby is diagnosed with failure to thrive, it means that he is not gaining weight like he should. It is normal for a newborn baby to lose some weight after birth, even as much as a 10 percent weight loss is considered normal. Your breastfed baby should be back to his birth weight, however, by the time he is 2-3 weeks old. After he is about three weeks old, he should start gaining around 4-10 oz per week until he is around six months old. If your breastfed baby is not gaining weight or if he is losing weight, he could be diagnosed with failure to thrive. Most doctors consider a baby to be failing to thrive when his weight falls below the fifth percentile or if a baby's weight drops by two major percentiles. (The 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, and 95th percentiles are considered major percentiles.)

When your baby is not gaining weight or losing weight, it can be very upsetting. A breastfed baby with failure to thrive may be having weight gain difficulties due to poor latch or sucking and swallowing issues, gastroesophageal reflux, metabolic disorders, milk-protein intolerance, or insufficient milk supply. If your baby is not getting enough breast milk, either because he is having issues with sucking and swallowing or because your milk supply is insufficient, you may need to supplement your baby with formula.

Here are some ways to tell if your baby is getting enough breast milk:

He has 6-8 wet diapers a day

He has several mustard colored stools per day during the first month. (After he is a month old, his stools may be less frequent and he may go a day or two without a bowel movement)

You can hear him swallowing when he nurses

He is nursing every 2-3 hours

Some warning signs that your baby is not getting enough breast milk:

He has less than 6 wet diapers a day

He is extremely fussy or lethargic

He makes a clicking noise when he nurses

He doesn't have a bowel movement at least once a day during the first month

His stools are very dark colored, not seedy and mustard colored

Getting your baby to a healthy weight may require supplementation with formula. However, this does not mean that you cannot continue breastfeeding or that baby will not be able to exclusively breastfeed eventually. Talk to your doctor and see if he can refer you to a lactation consultant. A lactation consultant can help you determine how much milk your baby is taking in when he nurses and she can also assist you if you are having breastfeeding difficulties. She can determine exactly how much breast milk your baby is taking in by weighing him before and after nursing. She can also work with you on ways to improve your milk supply, determine if your baby has anything hindering him from getting enough milk when he nurses, and she can help you to monitor your baby's weight and progress.

Is Potty Training in a Day Just a Myth, Or Can it Really Be Done?

The simple answer is, "No, it's not a myth", and "Yes, you can absolutely, positively potty train your child in 24 hours or less." I should know... You see, I've personally done it many times.  I started with my own three children and then moved on from there. (By the way, in case you're wondering my kids were as strong-willed as most two-year-olds and far more stubborn than many!

Having said that, I think it's wiser to set aside two full days for potty training (as long as you're using an established 2-3 day potty training system) so you'll have the time to reinforce the lessons of the previous day and afford your child more time to let it all sink in. This is especially important because often a child's light bulb doesn't illuminate until the evening of the first day, so you'll have a little wiggle room if you give it an extra day or two.  Even so, this is a much better solution - at least in my opinion - than dragging it out for months on end.

To be perfectly frank, I don't understand why many parents choose to spend six to eight months potty training their children, when they could be diaper-free in 24 to 48 hours. In my opinion too many parents place unnecessary roadblocks in their ways and tacitly - or overtly - use excuses such as,  "My son is too stubborn,"  "I work and don't have the time," "I'll potty train my daughter when she asks," "My child isn't talking well so he/she can't be potty trained," and the like.

But here's the thing... potty training in a day cannot be accomplished if you approach it in a "loosey-goosey" manner.  Rather, in order to make it happen your child must be sufficiently mature - physically and developmentally - and you'll have to select a solid fast-forward system and follow directions carefully and completely. If your child is ready and you're willing to prepare well, devote your full attention to the process, and follow through you'll do just fine; if not, the odds are stacked against you.

Let me explain...

First, make sure your child is ready for potty training. Although there is no one-size-fits-all formula, The American Academy of Pediatrics says that most toddlers mature enough for potty training between 18 and 17 months, so you can use this as a guideline. However, experts agree that developmental signals are far better indicators of potty training readiness than chronological age.

Next, you'll need to choose a safe and trustworthy accelerated potty training method. Please note, that the Internet is filled with "potty-train-your-child-in-one-two-or-three-days" systems. I've read them all. Very few are truly excellent. Some are just okay. But unfortunately, many are just plain awful, so select carefully.

Additionally - and this is a very important point -  solid fast-forward systems not only work, but they are supported in practice and theory by pediatricians, child therapists, and other experts.

However, regardless of the method you eventually choose, you'll have better results potty training in a day (or two) if you pick one that has the following elements.

Your accelerated potty training system should...

1. Combine nurturing behavioral modification techniques with positive support in emotionally happy and relaxed surroundings.
2. Offer guidelines for assessing your child's potty training readiness.
3. Require one teacher (usually a parent) who commits their full attention to the process for 24-48 hours
4. Provide specific step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow and actionable, as well as a detailed supply list.
5. NOT encourage you to purchase fancy potty training chairs, dolls that wet, or and other expensive equipment or supplies.
6. NOT advise using pull-ups, which will slow your progress. Promise.
7. NOT recommend that you push your child too hard or get angry or punish him or her for accidents.

Remember, your son or daughter genuinely wants to grow and learn to master new skills and he or she aims to please - no matter how strong-willed and resistant he or she may seem.  (How do you think I know this?)

Therefore, I invite you to seize this golden opportunity and learn more about trustworthy systems for potty training your child quickly so you'll avoid the pitfalls that can plague your efforts. If you arm yourself with vital insights and a blueprint for accomplishing your goal, you'll turn your uncertainly into confidence and get the results you deserve!  Promise.

Doctors & Nurses In Diapers, Picture That! Part Two

This article is about people who do not need to medically wear diapers. This is NOT about anyone who medically needs to wear diapers. Anyone who is incontinent and needs to wear diapers should wear diapers. But those adults who have been taught to be lazy and pee and poop in their diapers just because it is easier for nurses and doctors to handle that ---these are the patients that this article is addressed to. (See disclaimer at the end of this article).

All over the world, at this very moment, there are nurses, staff and attendants who are trying to convince fully healthy, continent individuals to wear diapers when they do not medically need to wear diapers. All over this is happening. And this is making the patient more and more unhealthy.

Here is why it is important that your family member or you do not wear diapers inside a nursing home or inside a physical rehabilitation and care center:

  • Once you begin wearing diapers, you will become in the habit of just pooping and peeing whenever you want to simply because you have a diaper on and because your clothing will not get wet or soiled. The diaper will protect your clothing. You are told to go in your diaper because that is what they are for. So, you begin to get accustomed to pooping whenever you feel like it. Wow. Think about it. You do not even have to get out of bed. No more nighttime trips. You just poop and pee whenever you want to do so. But what is happening to your body while you do this? Here is what happens. Eventually, you will lose control of those muscles that you are not using and you will make yourself incontinent. Yes, you, yourself, with the help of nurses and staff who are being paid good money, are helping you lose your muscles. Soon you will not be able to control your muscles and then you will indeed be incontinent. If you do not use those muscles to hold it in, you will lose the power those muscles still have. So you are actually making yourself sick. You are making yourself to have signs of being an invalid, when you came into the place a healthier person who was fully able to urinate and defecate in a toilet bowl. But for the convenience of staff, imagine that, for the convenience of staff, you become more ill and more dependent on the staff in a nursing home or in a hospital.

  • Now, if you are in such a mind that you think this is okay, think again. You are in the nursing home or in the rehab and care center --only temporarily. Yes, you are there temporarily, and after you leave there you will go home to your family. What happens when you get home? You will be there and you will be dependent on your family and also on temporary home care -to change your diapers. What if your family does not agree to changing diapers on you ---because you put yourself in diapers when it was not necessary? What happens if your family tells you that they will not change your diapers because you put yourself in that condition? (Of course this will be settled long before you leave the nursing home or rehab center). But I am trying to give you some ideas, some brainstorming of what your future might look like. Your future looks different if you are in or out of diapers, very different.

  • Once you are at home now, and you are still in diapers, you will be sitting in soaked diapers for long times, just like in the nursing home. Since you are in diapers no one has to change you immediately. Get the picture? You wait. And yes, you wait. You might be under the impression that you will soil a diaper and wet a diaper and then someone will come immediately to change you --but you are mistaken. Once your family knows that you did this to yourself, once they know that you could have avoided being incontinent, do you think that they are going to drop everything they do and run to change your diaper? Do you think that you will have your diaper changed any quicker than the nurses will do it? Perhaps it will take longer, since there are many nurses and great number of staff but perhaps only one or two family members. Yes, you will wait. And you will wait in a soiled diaper or wet diaper, just the same way that you waited in the hospital . No one says that the minute you pee or poop that someone must or someone will imediately come running to change your diaper. Your family member might be in the tub or they might be out to work or to school or to a volunteer job, and if that is the case --that they are out, you will wait for them to return. And upon their return, they will have to catch their breath, sit a few minutes and then when they are able to change your diaper , then they will change it.

  • So, you sit there smugly thinking that your home care attendant will change you promptly because that is what she is being paid for? Take the smug grin off your face and welcome yourself to reality and to the real world. When you have a home care attendant, you will have that person in your home only for short periods of time. You will not have someone there 24/7 . They work their own hours. So if they are there they can change your diaper. But what if you have a home-care attendant who hates her or his job? What if they are not happy people? What if they are not good workers? If this is the case, you can wait, yes , hours and hours to have your diaper changed, if at all. Your family member might say, that the attendant will be here soon to change the diaper and you might wait and then they might call in sick or not show up at all. And, there you sit in a messy, uncomfortable diaper until someone can change you. Remember, now, you put yourself in this position by volunteering to go in diapers when you did not need diapers. When I say volunteer, I mean that you did not insist that you be taken to the restroom but happily let the attendants put diapers on you when you were not medically incontinnet. You did this to yourself with the help of highly-paid staff at nursing homes and at physical rehabilitation and care centers.

  • What about depression? If you are a patient who has ever been depressed in your lifetime, once you submit to wearing unnecessary diapers, your depression will come back to you and worsen. You are making yourself more unhealthy by submitting to unnecessary diapers. Depression is banished most times, by action. And when you sit all day in a diaper, to even a normal human being who has no depression that is depressing. There is no one that can honestly tell you that sitting in soiled diapers , soaked diapers, diapers with diareahh is not depressing. So by making yourself more physically unhealthy, you are also making yourself more emotionally unhealthy. Depression comes and comes back and worsens when a person is wearing diapers if they do not need to medically wear diapers.

Wearing diapers is a comfort ONLY to those who NEED to medically wear the diapers. They are not a comfort to continent people. Do not let any staff convince you otherwise. Do not let any staff scare you with the threat of falls or scare you with the threat of "accidents". Insist on your rights if you are not medically incontinent.

The bottom line is that once you PUT yourself in diapers when you are not medically incontinent, you are putting yourself in a world that you have never known and you are making more problems for yourself and even making more medical problems for yourself. How? Well, as you sit in dirty and soaked diapers, you might begin to develop rashes, or problems or sores, especially if you are diabetic or especially if you have a skin problem to begin with. Everyone knows that diapers bring rashes sometimes. And most likely you will have your share of diaper rashes in your lifetime when you choose to be in diapers.

Now all these things are only possibilities, that is all, but they are possibilities that you have not thought of, correct? But they are all possibilities, depending on the staff, home attendants and the families, and depending on their attentiveness and their availability. What I am trying to say to you is that your life will be so much easier for you if you just grow up and keep yourself out of diapers when you are medically able to not wear diapers.

When you put yourself in diapers and you do not medically need to be in diapers, you are killing a part of yourself, you are humiliating yourself for no good reason. If you are a person that is not incontinent, and if you are a person that does not medically need to wear diapers, then you should make the decision yourself and demand to be out of diapers immediately. If you do not medically need to wear diapers, there is no reason for you to wear diapers.

What about the doctors and nurses in diapers? Here is what about them. Think about this:

When a surgeon or nurse needs hospitalization, or when a lawyer or judge or someone of high importance needs hospitalization or a nursing home or rehab stay, do you think that these dignified people would allow anyone to put them in diapers for the convenience of the staff? Probably not. No lawyer, judge, or doctor or surgeon or nurse would permit themselves to poop and pee in a diaper for the mere convenience of the staff of a facility.

They would protest. They would demand that the staff do their job and they would insist that no one put a diaper on them. So that is why you will not see lawyers in diapers any more than you would see doctors, surgeons or nurses in diapers. Why? This is why:

  • It is not medically necessary --in their cases.

  • It is an embarrassment even though staff insists it is not embarrassing. Sure, it is not embarrassing to them because it is not their bare but that is being wiped of poop. It is only embarrassing to the patient that is all. And staff spends time to reassure the patient that this is not embarrassing. Lie!

  • Lawyers, doctors and nurses have more recourse to argue the point and the staff knows that they had better not go against a surgeons words if that surgeon is insisting on NOT wearing diapers.

  • The nurses know that it will come out to the public, if not to the news stations when a surgeon is put in diapers unnecessarily because that surgoen will do everythying in his power to stay out of diapers.

  • That is why you do not see surgeons, doctors, lawyers or nurses in diapers. You will only see those patients who have been hoodwinked into thinking that they need diapers just in case or so they do not fall. It is all a lie. No healthy , continant patient needs diapers, EVER!

What about falls?

This is a big argument that staff has. Staff will insist that you have a diaper so you do not fall. Everyone knows that falls are dangerous. The fall is not the result of wearing a diaper or not wearing a diaper. You will not fall more if you do not wear diapers. You will only fall if you insist on net getting help to and from the bathroom. You will only fall if the staff is negligent and not paying attention and not coming when the bell rings. You will only fall if the staff ignores you.

So there you go, you have the fall situation solved. Your staff where you are should be attentive and should come when you call them. There is no excuse for negligence in any nursing home or rehab facilitiy. Do not worry about falling if you follow instructions.

To Avoid Falls do This:

Always ring the bell and do not get out of bed unatttended.

Always ask for help and get help.

This solves the fall problem.

And here is the biggy. If you are in a place where the staff is negligent and is not attending to you, you have many legal recourses and many organizations that will help you solve these problems. But the solution is not to wear a diaper for the convenience of the staff.

And yes, at this moment as I type and as you read this, hundreds if not thousands of patients are being forced into diapers just for the convenience of the staff. I wish Geraldo Rivera would do some kind of investigation into this diaper mess because it is a really big diaper mess. What are your thoughts?

4 Most Popular Diaper Bag Styles For a Happy Mom

All happy moms need multipurpose baby designer diaper bags. If a mom is not happy baby cannot be happy. A diaper is a bit of cloth made from absorbent material. It is folded and tucked in to cover the bottom of the infant who has not been toilet trained.

The manufacturing world has been churning out ideas to accustom parents to new innovations even in the field of toilet training. Hitherto rearing a child was not expensive. Milk flowed from the mother and there was no shame attached to a baby going about its natural entry and exit performances with the rain to wash and the sun to dry. Pieces cut off old robes were the most soft and absorbent. So the child grew up on Nature's lap without incurring any expenditure.

But those days had its hassles and no longer exist except in novels. Today's mother lives in the middle of hustle and bustle. Even a holiday or a dash to the store down the corner is a rush. Somewhere in this the baby has to be accommodated - happily fitted in with an eye to practicality combined with aesthetics and hygiene. Here is where the handy baby diaper bags steps in. These are for both mom and baby.

A mind-boggling array of baby diaper bags is just a click away on the Internet. One can make a choice from a wild selection, pay on line and wait for the courier to deliver it.

There are different baby diaper bags for different purposes.

The touring tote bag is a favorite with parents who travel. It is sleek and stylish and can easily pass off as an ordinary bag. It is deceptively spacious and can accommodate the world of the infant - wet and dry diapers, pacifiers, bottles, change of clothes, couple of toys etc. The material is fancy with prints or stripes, the lining is black and waterproof, the zipper with double heads is easy to operate and the shoulder strap is durable, stylish and adjustable. The front pocket is lined with magnetic clips. The bag can be wiped clean. There are pockets for cell phones and the like.

The compact baby diaper bag has the same features as the larger model but it is more streamlined. The exterior bottle pouches and interior pockets are detachable. If required one of the pockets can be reversed to go inside. Inside there is one spacious pocket with a magnetic snap. There is a magazine pocket on the outside that is wide and flat. The lining can be inverted to dispose of crumbs.

The clutch baby diaper bags are great takes for the modern mom being easy and convenient for short forays stylishly carrying all the essentials that both mom and baby need. Some come with hand embroidered designs. The lining is made from crimson waterproof material. There are pockets for diapers and swabs as well as creams and ointments. The wristlet strap is detachable.

There are other diaper bags that can be worn as a backpack with extra valet stroller clips.
The bags are so attractive that mom will not like to throw them away even when baby grows up.

Preventing Diaper Rash

A diaper rash refers to the red, irritated area of the skin below the diaper area. The rash may appear all over the baby's bottom, genital area or certain parts of the skin.

This usually occurs in children below two years but it may also strike paralyzed adults. The majority of victims are nine to 12 months old.

diaper rash may be caused by friction due to wet diapers rubbing against the baby's sensitive skin or irritants like feces, urine or cleaning agents. It may also be triggered by a fungal or yeast infection following antibiotic use or an allergic reaction to diapers, baby wipes, soap, lotion or the elastic band in plastic pants.

A simple diaper rash will disappear on its own provided the area is kept clean and dry. If the rash persists for a week and is accompanied by other symptoms like diarrhea or fever, see a doctor at once.

Cleanliness is the best cure for diaper rash. To shorten its duration and make your baby comfortable, follow these practical tips from WebMD:

Diapers should be changed more often than normal.

Skin should be washed with a very mild soap and air dried or lightly patted dry.

The skin should be cleaned, but avoid any rough scrubbing, which could lead to further skin irritation. After cleaning, the skin should be exposed to air, leaving the diaper off for several hours if possible.

Avoid using plastic pants during this time.

Certain foods may seem to worsen the rash. If this is the case, avoid these foods until the rash has cleared.

If the rash is caused by a contact or allergic dermatitis, stop using any new soaps or detergents that may be causing the rash.

If the rash appears to be caused by a candidal infection, it may be treated with topical, over-the-counter antifungal creams.

Topical steroids can be used for diaper rash caused by allergic, atopic, or seborrheic causes but should not be used for fungal infections.

Zinc oxide may also be effective.

"Diaper rash usually goes away on its own. In addition, a child will stop having episodes of diaper rash once potty-training has been successfully completed and the child no longer wears a diaper," concluded WebMD.

To look good, use Lumnaderm, a whitening cream that eliminates freckles, unsightly age spots, sun spots, blemishes and hyperpigmentation. When used as directed, Lumnaderm will balance uneven skin tones and illuminate your skin.

Baby Skincare - Very Important

Babies have a very tender and soft skin. Skin care is very important for babies. Use of nonirritating, nontoxic, safe, pure, clean, harmless and natural products is very necessary. These products in addition to maintaining the soft nature of the skin of the baby, clean and relax their skin making them feel good, healthy and gives them a cute look. So when skin care products have so much to do with our baby we need to select the right product that suits the baby skin and keeps it moist and clean.

There are several skin care products available in the market. Soaps, creams, oils used for skin care are either made from chemicals or naturally available sources. Since the skin of a baby is very soft and sensitive, use of chemicals can affect the skin and cause rashes making the baby feel uncomfortable. Organic skin care products seem to be best since they do not contain chemicals. Soaps and creams containing milk can be very safe since they make the skin soft and keep the skin moist. Aloe Vera is another herb that is best for skin care. The pulp of the herb can be extracted and cleaned thoroughly. If you find this to be difficult, there are companies proving you the Aloe Vera gel.

Before buying a skin care product, consult a doctor to ensure that the product is completely safe for your little one. Good skin care products can ensure comfort to the baby and a comfortable baby can sleep well. Babies grow when they sleep well and therefore it is necessary to make certain your baby sleeps well. Babies can suffer from skin rashes due to a number of reasons. The main reason among these is the improper use of diaper and using very tight clothing.

diapers should be replaced frequently. Wet diapers should be immediately removed and replaced. Continuous use of diapers can also cause nappy rash. Use of soft cloth should be preferred when the baby is sleeping or when it is at home to make it comfortable. Allergic skin rashes can occur due to unclean environment, unsafe toys and chemicals present in soaps and creams. When you identify that the soap or cream you use for the baby is allergic to your baby, stop using it and select a safe product. The skin of a baby is tender and delicate so use of chemicals will make it rough and causes red rashes and allergies. Treat the rashes immediately with suitable oil. Gently massage the body of a baby with safe oil so that it does not become dry and the skin remains soft. Creams extracted from natural herbs are best suited for babies and they make your baby feel comfortable and keep them away from skin irritations.

10 Tips to Save Even More Money - Cloth Diapering

In this post, I would like to give you some tips on saving even more money with cloth diapering.

It's quite clear that using cloth saves you a great deal of money, compared to disposables. Your one-time cost when going cloth is about 600 euro. Taken on account that children take longer to potty train when they're on disposables, you're looking at 2,5 to three years of disposables which comes down to 1400 euro.

Those 600 euro for the cloth diapers last until your child is fully potty trained and might even serve for a second or even a third child (hey, I even reused my old diapers from the eighties as burp cloths, talking about getting a lot of mileage out of them). Sure, they can wear, but they can often be repaired too.

TIP 1

When your velcro is worn out, simply take it off and replace it. You can even choose to replace velcro with snaps, and you don't need to be a professional tailor to do so.

TIP 2

Cut up some cotton or sponge towel to use instead of baby wipes. I have a little plant spritzer with water I use to wet the squares and that's all you need. If you have a tap near your changing space, you can opt for using a washcloth too.

TIP 3

Fabric liners are another easy thing to make. Cut them out of fleece, sponge towel or thick ribbed cotton jersey. Be creative, you can even reuse worn T-shirts if you layer them. You can either make square pads or more ergonomic ones. And again, for this job, you don't need a lot of experience sewing.

TIP 4

Paper liners can be washed too. I always wash mine if she has only peed on them. They even was two or three times.

TIP 5

When you are making your initial buy, shop around. Google it, nose through webshops, ask your friends. You might find some sales, you might get some handy-downs. Sometimes small mommy-run businesses make good quality diapers for less than the bigger brands. Plus most of the time these are customizable, so all the more fun. Trial packs can also be a good idea. Often they are cheaper and it's a great way to test out a few brand before sticking with one.

TIP 6

Don't buy everything at once. If money is short, this is a good way to split the cost. Your child only needs size S the first 5 to 7 months, you can postpone buying size L until later. This will also give you the time to find out if you are happy with the brand you own.

TIP 7

AIO's (all in one) are a great way to avoid having to result to disposables when you're out and about and might save you some $$.

TIP 8

Buy enough diapers. Now this might seem counter intuitive, but the bigger your stash the less frequently you have to wash, the less they will wear and the less work you have.

TIP 9

Let them run around bare bottom every once in a while. It's not such a big deal to clean a pee or a poop off the ground (if your flours aren't carpeted, of course). They also learn a little about themselves this way, and in the end, that's some less diapers to wash and iron.

TIP 10

Use soap nuts or a bio wash ball. I haven't tried the bio wash ball myself, but I've heard some great things about them. I can however vouch for the wash nuts. We've been using them for over two years now and our clothes are still squeaky clean. It costs about 14 to 17 euro for one kilo and we only use two bags a year (and I assure you, tropical climate dirties up your laundry like nothing else, and add to that a hubby squeezing himself into narrow oily and dirty shafts half the time for a living and who spends the other half of his time climbing dirt piles...). It also spares you the fabric softener; we only use white vinegar and the odd drop of essential oil.
